News Plugs or Not?

My Ranger is a 2001 with only 40,000 miles. Should I replace plugs and wires due to age or can I wait until 100,000 miles no matter what year it is?

Nothing is wrong with my truck, just curious for preventative maintenance. Thanks

i know the book says replace them at 100,000 but i think that is a little to long for spark plugs...i would recommend changing them somewhere between 60-75000

Well, I pulled mine at 50k to look at them and ended up changing them (they were showing some wear). At 100k, I'd worry about them rusting in place and having trouble getting them out. A few of them are fairly inaccessible.

damn straight. we had a 1997 F250 V8 in the shop. Original plugs. In new york state. needless to say 4 plugs just snapped in the holes and we had to fight to get the leftovers out before we put new in.
