Changing Fuel Filter on 96 Ford Ranger

Are any special tools needed to change a fuel filter on a 96 ford ranger?

Helped with a 2001 once, and there was a "special" tool to get the lines off the filter. Not sure if it's 100% needed though. You can pick them up at most car parts stores. Not sure what's available in your neck of the woods!

Here in Jax, they cost $16.

They don't have the $4.00 ones anymore..

And, I had to modify the one I got because it wasn't the size it claimed it was.

I still had plenty of gas left in the filter it just came pouring out on to my face...

Really sucks when the end you are not trying to disconnect, disconnects right over your face.
