‘93 Ranger 4.0 Coolant Leak
I’m having trouble identifying a coolant leak near the front of the engine. The truck itself hasn’t been running in quite a while considering the transmission was taken out and rebuilt. I had a coolant leak before, especially while running but it’s bad enough to the point where it continued to drip during the close to month it’s been without the engine running.
I got a loaner coolant pressure tester. The gauge doesn’t even work properly and I don’t have the time to return it for another right now. I originally suspected the water pump and I still think that might be part of it but it seems like there’s more to it.
Both photos are taken at the front of the engine, on the side of each oil pan behind the water pump. The first photo is the drivers side. It seems there is coolant leaking from some area above where the oil pressure switch is. The second photo is from the passengers side. The coolant seems to be coming from a similar area above the water pump.
I’m praying it’s nothing major considering how much work has been put into the truck. After I flush the trans lines out and get the exhaust on I will likely end up getting it diagnosed at a radiator shop. Wish me luck the on the trans rebuild working lol. Any input is greatly appreciated before I end up putting a new water pump and gasket on.

I ran some through the system while it was still running a few months ago. Didn’t have much luck. Especially in that area pictured as it’s hard to view around there in the first place. I’ve cleaned it up a good amount. I’ll probably just take it into the shop to get a decent answer before I start ripping the engine bay apart once again.
