Rangers are played out. Everywhere you look there is one. Here an CA all of them are lifted at the front with a pre runner bumper and white fenders.

And yes Tacos are played out too.

I opted for a 5.0 from a 99 explorer in to my 00 ranger because its pretty much a basic swap and very little modifications are needed. EXACTLY what i wanted due to the face that this is my DD. Im not going to down my truck for months at a time to install a rare motor in my truck when this is the only thing i drive on a daily basis. NOW i have another toy which most of you will frown upon and its listed under my signature. Thats in the garage and its in for a major overhaul. Thats my toy. My Ranger is pretty much a daily driver that i wont see going under the knife for more than a weekend at a time. i can do a 5.0 swap easily in a long weekend. No biggie there :) Thats my reason

You speak the truth.

But that makes the unique ones all that much better.

5.0's will never be played out in the ranger. as rangers getting cheaper more 5.0's will find there home in the frame rails. putting a big block in a tiny truck would be fine for mudding, but for a daily driver the 5.0 is sufficient.

you know Im hearing this debate about dropping abig block in a ranger and that the 5.0 302 suck. Let me say this I dont care how many folks have done this; but I will say ask yourself how unique you will be and how many rangers have a 5.0 in your neck of the woods. First mistake is saying that they are common when in fact its most ranger owners wish list; well some at least.

So in saying all that I also would like to state that no-one knows whats under your hood. all they know is that thei **** has just been whooped by a ranger and the last time I checked when two folks are racing " A win is win" :)

Not everyone is a import hater. I'd love to see pics of the wire tuck finished. If I had $16k-$20k and had a F-150 already I'd go and get me a Supra TT.

How would you hook up on normal streets? I saw a video (on here I think) of a bagged 5.0 ranger that was chirping in 4th gear....More weight up front and still no weight in back would waste a lot of rubber i would think. 800+hp is super duper if you can get it on the ground.

Im going to do a 5.0 swap because Im getting the engine that is already decked out with cobra parts, trans, fan, radiator, and a lot of other stuff for next to free....when my friend's turbo setup is finished in his 91 stang...because the block/trans only handle like 500hp or less, he is getting all new stuff.

Thats the bonus of the 5.0... aftermarket parts - tuners, lots of stuff to put into them for not too expensive.

The flipside - a 4.0 is god awful expensive to do anythign with, gotta spend at least $1500 in engien fflare before a tune is even worth it.. and then you only get what, maybe 25-30 horsepower off of it?

I can say I'm guilty.. $650 headers, $250 FIPK II, Full exhaust, Coilpack, soon to be followed by an underdrive pulley.. then finally my tune - I plan on bringing it into a shop to do the tune.. 300 bucks for shop time and you get an actual tune made to fit what you have.

I dont remember how much my headers were...they are pacesetter, I know they wernt cheap. Intake is custom, so only paid for the filter and air bypass thing to prevent hydrolocking. Exhaust is flowmaster, dumped behind the cab which wasnt too bad since I didnt have a shop do it...Was going to put on a throttlebody spacer until I got the word on the 5.0 hand-me-down....Not worth it if Im going to have a v8 within a year....So now I think Im going to buy a 240sx shell since I have to wait for the V8, and my seats reapholstered and paint...though I may try to paint myself after my roomate moves out and I have the garage to myself....sorry about the off-topic rambling.
