I want to do a 5.0 or 4.6 swap.

I want to do a 5.0 or 4.6 swap.

Hey guys I just recently inherited my 1999 ranger sport with a 3.0l V6. The V6 just isn't enough for me and I was just wondering if anyone here could tell me what would be involved in swapping a 5.0 motor into the truck. It is a 4x4. Also if you could possibly ball park me some prices because I'm only 18 and money isn't exactly flowing in. I would even be willing to do a 4.6l motor swap from a later model mustang gt. Which ever one is better. I'm here to learn about this truck and I hope to hear from you guys soon. THX!

SEARCH!!! SEARCH!!! SEARCH!!!

Thats why we have this feature on the site, so you can find the things you're looking for. By the way, if you would look in the V8 section, you would see a few 5.0 swaps that are happening as we speak.

Not trying to be an ***, but it gets old people getting on here and asking questions like this because they are too lazy to spend 5 minutes looking for the answer.

Now, you basically will need a complete explorer from the same year to pull all the crap out of and bolt it into your ranger. The 5.0 is a bolt in swap, but it does take money, the biggest investment being the donor vehicle, but also all the small parts. The 4.6 can be done, but it is far from bolt in, and will cost a lot more money.

Mudslanger is doing this exact swap now (hence why I told you to use the search function), read all of his thread and you will soon find the info you are looking for.
