Has anyone tried installing Kenwood's Excelon 7" speakers? Crutchfield says it doesn't fit but I was wondering how much modification would be required to make them fit.

 

Your front door speakers are probably 6x8s which means you need to cut out for the new ones to fit. Double check your clearances for depth before ordering

 

As long as they aren't too deep, they should be fine. By the time you make a mounting plate they will be spaced away from the original speaker opening. The basket tapers, so you may not have to cut at all. I've seen focal installs that didn't require cutting. And those were basically 6 3/4".
