so far my parts list consist of $750 including:
- tranny
- clutch
- pedal assembly (new from Ford)
- slave cylinder
- flywheel
- shifter
- new tranny mount

and according to the dealership, i don't need a new PCM since i am going auto to manual......

i'd double check that. It doesn't sound right to me. I don't know "what" tells the tranny to shift, but something is giving input on it.

i think you nuts... the slave cylinders are junk and a stock clutch wont hold up to 35s. also the tranny is very noisy.

they said the PCM gives the tranny the shift input.......Bob said i would have some tranny codes get thrown, but it would work..

i plan on using either a Clutch Masters or SPEC clutch....

i wanted a manual truck when i bought this one.....i got a good deal on this one and it had really low miles on it.....so i settled for an automatic......that and doing this swap will be about 1/4 of what it cost to have the auto rebuilt.....

1/4 of the cost? i doubt it.

i wanted to swap as well, then started weighing the pros and cons, so not worth the hassle. i stuck with the auto, dumped 650 in my trans and its so much better.

atleast you can do something with the 5r55e, the m50d isnt that great at all, and like i said the slave is junk which has been proven on this site alone several times.

well maybe about 1/2 the cost of a complete rebuild (torque converter, clutches, solenoids, bands, seals, etc).....

$650 i am figuring about $100-$150 more than that for the complete swap.......

the best price i have got for a complete rebuild was $1600.....since i can't do the work myself cause i don't know a tranny

i am going to a junk yard tomorrow to see what i can get parts and pieces for.......i am going to take my computer with me so i can plug numbers in while i am there...

won't handle 35s?? huh. I seem to remember certain someone having 35s and a heavy right foot. The EE SC is what killed that trans. Blew it into oblivion. Manny trannys in our trucks don't take to kindly when it comes to wheelin', but you don't wheel, so you should be okey dokey for this swap. My last trans lost 2nd gear. This '06 model year unit is doing very well. good luck with the swap, mo. I think its a good idea.
