7.5 to 7.5

Should all 7.5s be pretty much the same? I got a 7.5 from a guy with 4.56 gears and limited slip for pretty much free. The only thing he said is when your on the gas in has a noticeable whine/hum. But when your off the gas you hear nothing. Im thinking its bearings but I could be wrong. A buddy of mine said it could be that the gears are on to tight? I have no idea when it comes down to rear ends. I just want the gears to be honest. Is anything switch able from the two? Both are 01's

take the gears and completely rebuild one of the axles.
from experience, ditch both of them and get an 8.8. I got away with running 33s for a while then it started with the "humming" so i just replaced it with an 8.8 before it went boom.

RIP

Wirelessly posted (Droid X)

Since you got it for free, sell it and buy an 8.8... don't waste money on a 7.5

If you can do it yourself maybe. Mine was still under warranty. Ford had to replace my ring and pinnion, bearings, crush sleave and some other things. Ive helped the mechanic at my old job do one and it wasnt complacated, just follow directions.
