95 Ford Ranger- Trans problem

I am looking at buying a 95 Ford Ranger 3.0 V6. The guy Im buying it from, says for the last several years its had a SMALL trans leak, so you have to put trans fluid in every month or two. Also, it slips a little bit when accelerated hard or quickly. Its an automatic.

What could be causing these problems? What might be required to fix this? I understand you cant be 100% sure, but atleast ideas, would be helpful.

Thanks :)

Hmm, ask him where it's leaking from. I would stay away if the trans is slipping, it might be on it's way out. My 2 cents, I'm no expert. Welcome to Ranger-Forums.

Well, he is only asking $1000 for it, so I might see what I can just get a new trans put in for. Anyone know a rough estimate on what an install would be, I know where to get the trans.
