i have 140,000miles on my edge and have a roaring noise. thought it was tires, may be front drive shaft. does the front drive shaft spin when in 2wd. i've been told the shaft needs replaced but i would think it would not spin in 2wd thus noise should be from something else.

 

What I would do is take the front drive shaft out an see if the noise goes away. It not then it could be a bearing or a multitude of things. so try different things till u figure it out.
