awd navigator t-case

I don't know which case you are referring to, but more than likely no.
Most of the expeditions (and I assume the navigators) have AUTOMATIC 4x4, 4x4, and 4x4 low, not actual all wheel drive. The transfer case just engages when it detects slip which is rough and hard on the driveline components imo. They work much like the electric transfer cases in most explorers.

no it will not...
here is why
-ranger 27 spline output, navigator is 31 spline output
-the case is 17" wide from the center of the output to the drivers side. the ranger frame is only 32" wide
-the output is a slip yoke output
-the front output is a 1350 ujoint
well then all the awd stuff.
there is a case which is a 4405? or 4406? i cant remember that some explorers had behind the 4.0L that was an awd case, it is the smaller input too. which i suppose you could create a controller box that allowed you to flip switches making it in awd, 4wd and 2wd.

Zach the explorer case you are thinking of is definitely automatic 4x4, our 97 had it. I hated it personally. I think my wife liked it because it would engage under heavy throttle in the rain and stuff, but I didn't like it because it was kind of rough. There is a brown or yellow wire mod that allows you to disable the auto4x4 on them though.
Well there is also the standard AWD case that came behind the 5.0L.
I'm pretty sure the expeditions were auto4x4 as well, but maybe I am only thinking of certain years. No matter since it wouldn't fit anyway.
On a very random side note, I always thought a fun project would be a 98+ ranger regular cab 4x4, with a built 5.0L auto with AWD case, lowered a couple of inches to look like a 2wd. It would be a fun sleeper anyway.
