Well, Im planning on putting a front hitch on my truck here sometime soon, but i have noticed that the lines going to the tranny cooler are almost in the way. My truck is bodylifted, and as we all know, the PA body lift comes with the drop brackets for the tranny cooler. Are these brackets included only because the length of the stock lines going to the cooler are not long enough for the cooler to retain its stock location? And if so, would it be safe to extend the lines, and put my cooler back where it belongs? It just seems to me like the airflow is much more restricted behind the bumper, now that I really look at it... Any help/opinions would be appreciated!!

there are no such things as drop brackets for the tranny cooler. I left mine alone when i got my front hitch.

 

My PA bodylift had brackets to lower the tranny cooler, since its mounted to the frame in front of the radiator. I assume because the lines are not long enough to leave it in the stock location. But I do have brackets, and they are installed. Im just making sure that its okay to extend those lines..

somethings odd. Trannycooler should be mounted to the Rad. Mounted to the header panel/core support.

 

i thought the tranny cooler was part of the rad...i didnt know the ranger had a dedicated cooler for the trans

the "tow package" gives you a wiring harness going to the rear of the truck to hook up a trailer, thats the only difference and maybe pos rounded hitch lol I didn't have either on my truck and had to buy my own hitch which was only used to pull people who got stuck or me getting pulled out

Thats strange, because everything was accounted for when I put the lift on. Three extra brackets? Lol.

 

idk but they're definitely radiator brackets lol

tranny cooler doesn't get touched during the BL but if your radiator is relocated then whatever lol


edit: just went through the instructions online to make sure and it doesn't say anything about the tranny cooler but like i said if the radiator is relocated, i dont know what you did but whatever lol

 

I have those drop brackets for the transmission cooler on my 2009 when i did my body lift, and it was in the instructions i got, but the 2001 and up body lift stuff is a little bit different then 1998-2000 i think.

 

One of the brackets that looks like that is supposed to be for the ground strap on the front of the firewall. And two should be for your radiator. I don't remember if any more than just those three were included, but I didn't bother doing the ground one. In regards to the trans cool, I moved mine up past the stock height. I thought it was a stupid design to only have half of the trans cooler in the direct path of air. I made a new bracket and now my whole cooler is in the grill. My trans temps dropped a decent amount since I did it, and I'd recommend it to anyone. All I really had to buy was some new transmission hose from Napa since the stock hose wasn't long enough.

The trans cooler is built into the radiator. The small cooler is the trans (secondary cooler or aux cooler) when my trans failed the coolant tank in the rad cracked causing a contamination so I replaced both. I moved the trans cooler to s better spot but not far from the stock location

 

Yeah, that's weird. Lol. Maybe I'll try and dig out the instructions from where I did mine. I'm definitely going to move it back to stock height, at least. I may actually go higher, even if I have to make some brackets. Although... I could just flip these. Hmmmm.. Thanks a lot guys. This is definitely going to be my next mod. Haha.
