Scraping when turning - coming from rear diff
Okay so I installed my 4/5 drop tonight. On the way home I noticed when turning left there is a deep scraping ( similar to the sound of turning rotors) coming from the left rear wheel. When I turn right that same sound comes from the right rear wheel, but not as bad.
I unfortunately work at 6am and its midnight so I cant look at it. Has anyone else run into this? My truck has a 8.8 from an exploder with the disc brakes in the back.
There is no noise at all coming when im going strait, and if i turn very slow there is no noise.

Well, that may be the case because it still has the 3" lift spindle on it right now. Im swapping the,m out tomorrow night. So the rim may be close to the control arm. It sounds like its coming from the back but like I say, it may not be.
Does anyone think that maybe the change in pinion angle is putting more torque through the diff and the craping I am hearing is the clutches? I dont have any friction modifier in it, but it wasnt scraping before. It seems that the posi is working a lot better... keeps kicking out on me. lol

it's got a flip kit and an expo axle? hmm....ok....what wheels are you running? What size tires?? I'd guess you've got some tire rub. Lil bro's truck with the 4/5 and 245/45r17's on 17x8 cobras rub in the rear when flexed out a little bit in the drive way, and occasonally on turns.
Expo axle is 15" wider than stock ranger axles....that 3/4" on each side is probably where your issue is coming from.

hahha, i had the djm arms and coils with spindles installed, but not i have stock spindles.
It sounds like a metal rub. The left side is a bit lower in the rear so im going to arch those spring up tonight. Anyone ever had something rubbing rotors on turns? I dont see anything that would rub but ya never know.
Ive looked and it doesn't look like the tires are rubbing at all either. It really sounds like a scraping. Like a rotor being turned in a shop

Well, i figured out what it was. A year ir so ago I got in an accident and it bent my box. When that happened the box support broke and it just got bent up to the top of the wheel well. When i was cornering hard it was rubbing on the tire, I cut the support off and voila! Fixed. I cant wait to get my truck in for paint to get the new box on!
