Transmission problem

well i got my transmission rebuilt like 2500 miles ago, beside the fact i know i have to take it back, what can some of the problems be if my o/d light flashes on and off, . Basically i was driving back from vegas going about 75 the whole way, the light flases when i slow down to a stop and start to accelerate, it seems like it has no overdrive or something becasue the motor revs kinda high before it shift, the shift is a little harder then it was but only between 1 and 2 gear, could this be the tranny heating up ,o by the way its an automatic with a 4.0, is there anything that i can do to beef it up. maybe a shift kit. Im thinking about getting a tranny cooler, is it worth it, also my truck has stock gears on 33, will that cause stuff to break anyways i really need ur advice thanks.

Flashing O/D light means transmission trouble codes are stored in the PCM. Without getting the codes pulled, you're just guessing.

no PCM you can access from the engine bay, you can read the codes from the PCM by plugging an odbII reader into the odbII port under the steering column / dash in the interior. someone like autozone will read the codes for free.

the code will be Pxxx or something of that sort, post it here and Bob can tell you what it means

the unit behind or next to the radio is the GEM on 03 and under...

yea but your GEM(called something different in 04+) is passenger side kick panel, i don't think you have anything behind your radio...

Second gear on our transmissions comes from applying the overdrive when in first gear. Then a slightly complex disengagement of overdrive and shifting up to the third gear comes. This is the most common place to have shifting problems (2-3).

If you are having a "flare" between 1 and 2 that's a different story. Definitely you need to get it read to know and I'd go easy on it until you do. If the shop was reputable perhaps they'll honor a warranty claim.

I'm rebuilding mine myself this spring when I convert it to a 4WD transmission.
