My Manual T-Case Swap
so if everything goes well ill be picking up my 1354m and explorer driveshaft this weekend, ive been reading all the old threads but still feel like im missing alot of stuff, he is claiming to have all the linkage and from what i understand i should be able to get it to work on my truck just fine, maybe some slight bending, seems like alot of the people who have done this swap are using manual trannys and im curious as to if there are any differences when bolting to an auto, what am i forgetting here???? thanks ahead of time, hopefully ill possible be able to do this this weekend thats why im trying to make sure i have everything before hand.......

Found this in one of my old noob threads:
The difference is in how they're wired. Rangers with the electric t-case take the 4WD indicator grounds from the 4x4 Control Module in the dash. The 2002/3 trucks with the manual case used the 4x4 Mode Switch in the transfer case to provide the grounds. It would be very easy to rewire the lamp grounds to work with the manual case. Just get the matching connector for the manual 4x4 Mode Switch and run two wires to the instrument cluster in place of the ones that go to the 4x4 Module.

^^yep...what he said.
this thread, eveything i was going to say, has been covered already. lol.
Just get a 1354 linkage and it'll work fine. with some fine tuning with the mounting bolts loose, you'll get it perfect. I've got mine perfect sitting on the ground. lol. Probably the most time consuming things are getting the old shafts off and adjusting the linkage! Should be done in 2hrs or so, with beer breaks.

Well that went relativly painless took about 3-4 hours with the beer breaks and a trip to sears to get a 30 mm socket to change out the flange for the rear driveshaft. Wasn't sure I was ngoing to be able to do that or not but I used it as a learning expirerement and it popped right off. Still need to figure out something for the handle and boot but hospital trip is preventing me fromscoping out junkyards. I'll try and get the pics later once I'm home
