Pinion Angle question

My '96 ranger has had the driveline vibration when moving form a stop for some time now. I know it is in part because of the two piece drive shaft but also the pinion angle of the rear axle. My rear suspension currently consists of Skyjacker's 6" springs and Fx4 shackles.

What I am wondering is if i can eliminate, at least partially, the vibration by using the DJM shim kit?

Does anyone see a reason why these would have a negative affect on my truck?

And Yes Kyle I do wish I had thought of this before you help me out with the shackles.

It is possible that the last time the u-joints were changed that one or more of the yokes got installed 180 degrees out .that would throw the shaft out of balance.

Did your springs come with wedges already on them? My Skyjackers did.

I dont see pinion angle causing a vibration at that slow of a speed. If it was the angle you wouldnt feel it until you going at least 40-45mph and faster. I would look at the u-joints themselves.

Check the steady bearing on the d-shaft as well, its most likely pretty well worn out. Next bet for me would be to change the u-joints. I had a 4" lift on my '93 (2 piece as well) and I had to do the u-joints, then it was fine. LR

i always go the vibration between 5-10mph when starting or under load like up a hill... the pinion has to be PERFECT to conquer the 2 piece driveline.... one piece swap will help, also the shims might not be enough correction, or they are too much... post a pic of your angle if you can.

Have you checked the differential for excessive backlash between the ring and pinion ?
