Hello All. First post here. Would appreciate any insight you might have.

I have a 2001 Ranger XLT 4.0 4WD with 140K. Started getting a hum in the drivers front. When bearing left, the hum diminishes when weight comes off the drivers front wheel. Sounded like a wheel bearing to me. So I replaced the wheel hub assembly last night. This morning's commute, the hum is still there loud and clear. I'm stumped. Any ideas what else I can try? Thanks.

Rotate tires to take that off the table.

Check front differential fluid level as well.

Did you find the solution to your humming noise? I have a 2011 Ford Ranger doing the same thing. It gets louder the faster I go and it goes away when turning left but when turning right it is still there.

 

It ended up being the front passenger bearing. Go figure.

 

Mines doing the same thing except when I turn to the right the hum goes away. 159k miles on it so I'll replace both.
