tail shaft seal or output shaft seal leak HELP
hi everybody , i noticed my tail shaft or output shaft seal is leaking , tranny meets drive shaft seal , i am going to replace it my self but the weathers been really windy and cold, how long can i drive with the leak for about a month ? or is it super urgent to replace? also should i buy the oem ford one or will an autozone one work? also do i need to put my tranny in neutral or part before i remove the drive shaft , its an automatic ,been searching but found no write ups on how to replace it ,thanks

You can just put it in park like normal. Just make sure you chock the wheels or put the truck on jack stands so it doesn't start to roll when you remove the driveshaft.
Whether you need to replace it now or later depends on how bad it's leaking. If it's leaving a puddle on your driveway, replace it asap. But if you just notice that the tail shaft housing is wet, you can probably stretch it out a little, as long as you keep an eye on your fluid level. Most people with this same problem wouldn't even notice it until they see a puddle on the ground or crawl under and inspect it.
As for where to get the seal, I always bought OEM seals from Ford. They're relatively inexpensive, and the ones I've replaced never leaked.

As long as you monitor your transmission fluid you should be fine, assuming it is a 2wd and it isn't leaking transfer case oil.
