A couple questions on the front axle
Does anyone know offhand what size the nut is that holds the yoke onto the pinion? And on the right side half shaft seal, can I replace that (again) without separating the knuckle from the lower ball joint and probably tearing the boot with a pickle fork? Thanks!

One more question on this, can I get adequate access to do the seal replacement without removing the half shaft from the hub and thus the half shaft itself? The reason I ask is, if I need to remove the half shaft I'll be buying a spindle nut to replace the old one, and I want to have that new nut available. I know, some guys will say it's ok to reuse it, just apply a little locktite blue and call it a day, and it probably is ok, but I know that nut deforms ever so slightly once it's installed and therefore it loses some retention performance. I'm super fussy about the quality of my work and the resulting reliability, as such I'm more than happy to pay the $14 and replace it. I go to highly remote places where I don't feel like walking out and having to deal with hassles.
You mean you can actually feel something, anything after five beers? Takes me about twice that; practice makes perfect.

We've had this disucssion many times (Sober me, Drunk me, Fiance) We think I have a problem. But we're not too sure, so we need to investigate further.

Yup, that's the seal; I kinda figured there wouldn't be enough room to work without pulling it. No biggie though. Thanks for the reply!

Yeah, there are 3 places within 5 miles of me that I can walk into and by a case of beer no questions asked.
And the fact that I'll have a military ID in like 2 months will make it that much easier lol.

If you're talking about the pinion nut (where the driveshaft goes in) it's 1 1/8". I know this cause I replaced my pinion seal last week but didn't have a big enough socket to tap it in evenly and bent/warped it slightly so it leaked worse. Just got in a few minutes ago after getting the right tool, a new seal, and doing it correctly...lol. It takes a serious impact wrench to get the nut loose and a big cheater bar to get it set back exactly where it needs to be.
