tool/truck box+dirtbike???
ok, i want a toolbox in my bed. the question i have is-will i still be able to put my bike back there? its a 250 and its about 7ft tire to tire. it only fits straight with the gate down and diagonally with the gate up. im thinking it shud go diagonally with the gate down. that it the only thing that will keep me from getting it. also any feedback on these would be great. i would pry fill it with my racing gear and pry like a 7gal air tank or so.
2nd question-i have an edge therefore it has that massive bed rail thing, shud i just cut out a swatch for it to fit in nice and snug? if i cut that then i will have to sell the truck with the box in it.

Well....take a look at the specs of the toolbox you want to use. I've seen 'thin' boxes that don't go back as far as regular boxes. Generally...i think it's about 24" length. So imagine your bike being 24" back more. Honestly, i think you are over thinking it. It's no bigger to rest the front tire against the box, strap the bike up and rock the tailgate down.
IMO...remove those ungodly huge caps, and either leave it as-is or get aftermarket caps. I replaced my huge caps with Bushwacker plastic direct fit caps. Fit great...but if you like the stock caps..rock 'em. Christian, the site owner, ran a toolbox and the stock caps....cut a notch in the caps and ran 'em. I think LordofWar did the same thing?

Tailgate down wedge the front tire betweeh the wheelwell an the box. run a strap from the bars to the front tie downs AND one from the bar to the back tie down. You'll see waht I mean. Its just to much of an angle to hold it with the standard 2 tiedowns IMO. And thats with the fullsize box.
It will work, if it dont though....Make it work

I was hoping I'd find a thread like this and lo and behold!
What kind of prices did you guys pay for your boxes (if you don't mind me asking), and does anyone have one of those rugged plastic ones? I'd rather not get the aluminum look seeing as how a black plastic would keep with the color scheme I'm planning for my steel gray ranger.

I wouldnt get a plastic one. Look at the trucks in your town that have them. You'll notice alot of them that are sagging in the middle. Either from wieght or heat I dunno. I had a Black aluminum diamond plate box in my last ranger.
I paid $300 for my TaylorWings box. After I broke the hell outta it in about a months time or so. The place I bought it from was goona swap me over for a new one but they were outta stock. So they upgraded me to a WeatherGuard box for $30 and my busted box. Those ones are in the $500 range
One thing that I never thought about until I had the WeatherGuard box, is the latch release locations. Its sooo much nicer with them on the side of the box. No more digging down through a load of whatever just so you can open the box. I'll never have another box that doesnt open from the side.
