Those are really only practical if you move your dogs around a lot.

I couldn't keep my dog locked up under a tool box, though. Just seems kinda cruel when I got a cab she can be in.

ummmm. you wouldn't want to use any sort of plywood due to the fact of warping and rotting from being outside, in the rain, or just being in the dampness of a garage. if your trying to save money i would just go with a plastic box or a better built aluminum diamond plated box. BUT in teh case you would like to use wood treated 2x4's and oil treated 1/2+ osb particle board would be your best bet. also build your lid with an angle and put shingles on it lol that would look pretty sharp and keep water from settling on it. now you've inspired me. I'm gonna build me one now.

They are usually used for hauling hunting dogs to and from the field not for just hauling your dog around for fun. My grandpa made one out of wood but i dont have a pic of it.

How does a forum which claims to be country not know what a dog box is? lol

My papa built a tool box out of wood then stained and did an expoxy laminate over it. It looks really nice and fits perfect.

I just use two plastic kennels from Petsmart. That way I can put them in or out and have my full toolbox. I just run a cable through them with a padlock if I'm worried about someone trying to lift them. Here's a crappy pic from above. It's dark out now so I can't get a good one.

I think I would consider a permanent one if I had a Superduty with a long bed or something. Depending on where you live, they have camo neoprene covers for the plastic ones which your dogs will probably appreciate when it's a butt cold night and you're doing 70mph down the highway.
