KC Slim lites

Hey All,

I'm looking to get some KC slim lites for my ranger to mount behind the grill. i have a billet grill and am trying to decide between the driving version and the long range version of the lights. My question would be do the 130w long range lights put out to much heat for right behind the grill? The long range ones are what I want but of they are going to be to hot then I will just go with the driving lights which are only 100w lights.

thanks for info,

Dave

No matter the lense, the amount of heat will be the same depending on the wattage of the bulb. I've got 2 long range and 2 driving and both are 130w titanium slimlites.

I'd get long range.

You've got a billet grille so you have nothing to really worry about in the melting/heat department. That really only applies to guys that still have their stock plastic grille.

Doesn’t the grill, in the “Behind the Grill” lights setups, screw up the light pattern ?

I dont think it does. It might appear to but I think the light is close enough to were it does not make a difference.

I remember when people used to put fog or driving lights behind their grilles Not because it looked cool, but because people were stealing the lights. So, they put them behind the grille to keep them from being stolen. and it did look cool, too!

Get the long range version and forgo the 130 watt bulbs. They are a little brighter, sure, but they burn out much faster than the almost as bright 100 watt ones. More important to use thick gauge of wire and, of course, put 'em on a relay.
