Nope, you will most likely end up breaking some of the clips and/or at the very least marring the plastic with whatever you pry on the housing with.

Why don't you just repaint it?

Yeah, I'd just mask off the grille housing. Just make sure you take your time and you can get it masked off just perfect.

The grille comes out of the shell fairly easily I have done it 3 times now swapping grills around. With a little wd40 on the clips and a screw driver mine came right out with no breakage. Just put the flat blade into the open space in the clip twist slightly and push down releasing the pin.

Hmm, I attempted to take mine off and didn't have any luck. I would have broke it in the process. All you can do is try it and find out.

i thought about just taping it off and i still might go that route. i had the whole front off last night looking at it. what kind of black paint to you guys recommend? its pretty faded and i have 2 6in driving lights mounted behind it so i was thinking it would either be flat black or gloss, im leaning towards gloss though.

Go with Krylon Fusion, I got flat black, I think either would look good.

The newer grilles may be different. I use krylon fusion satin black for all my plastic painting.
