thinking this is the right place to post this forum-wise. i've had a 2007 black STX ranger (3.0L V6) for a little over 2-3 months now and while i was out washing the it today, i noticed black specks on my rear driver side rim. upon cleaning the rims, i noted that the black specks are not raised, nor would they come off. i know this must be a stupid question so feel free to flame, but is something like this covered under warranty? i stick only to paved roads and have not taken this truck anywhere other than home and work. i baby my truck so i was alarmed to see this on my rims today. could this be spray from when the truck was sprayed or something that was left on the rim in the dealership parking lot and was never washed (so it became baked in?)

if you can prove it is UNDER the clear coat, then yes it should be covered...

Take it into the dealer and have them take a look. If the spots are below the clearcoat, or if they are imbedded rail dust from when the truck was being transported to the dealer, they should cover them under warranty.

You may want to try using a clay bar on the wheels and see if the spots come out that way.

 

are you sure its not tar? take some gas or soemthing to them and see if they will rub off.
