i have a first generation gmc s-15 and its kinda hard to find a junkyard bed from the u pull it that isnt trashed. but the bed on a newer ranger somewhat looks the same and i had the idea that if its about the same width you could swap the new one on. and from fx4's post im about 10 inches off. my bed is 64 inches max width.

fx4 is that for a stepside or fleetside?

well im off at school in daytona so i dont have money or much access to a welder to recondition the stock bed via fender cut outs. plus its not very often you see a boxy s-15 with a stepside bed. the newer s-10 beds dont line up well and look like crap. so im just lookin for alternatives. got to make it work somehow.

i highly doupt a ranger bed will fit on it. drill out the spot welds and get a whole new side panels from a repo place. suprisingly i have used JCwhitney's panels they are acully really nice. then re-screw or glue the panels back on or just take it to a body shop and have them spot weld it for you..

yeah i have the cut outs from jc whitney but i was just brain storming on how to be different. and get rid of my rust bed at the same time. ill also have to fix the mounts on the original a well which is why i was lookin around. pa winters have begun to eat it pretty bad.

if you were to measure the lower body line from drivers side to passenger side. i think the best way to describe it is where the top of the front "step" is. the way i measured mine was in between the cab and frame.

if the line with the arrows is the front of the bed.

thanx for helpin me out.
