Painted Emblems - Started a new project

Since I hate chrome, and the stock emblems on my 04 are chrome on a black surround, i had to change that.

My plan is to do them aluminum looking first, and then go over with a layer of gunmetal on the letters alone, so I have the "dark on light" opposite look of stock.

It was hard to get a good picture of this but I'm very happy so far. Need to wait a week for it to be fully cured so I can mask on top of the paint I painted today.

Is that the finished product, or does it actually get darker then that?

Not my cup of tea, but it's not bad. I like the light on dark look myself.

No I have to go over the letters later after I can mask on top of it, It will stand out much better then.

Maybe someone talented can photoshop it.....

Yeah, I can't wait to see it either. I've been thinking of working on mine, since they are starting to chip here and there. I'll be curious as to how yours turn out, but I really like it so far. What kind of paint are you using?

Same stuff I used on my caps, it matches the aluminum of my rims perfectly. Those were painted a week or so ago, the paint is now cured and very robust.

Looks neat, but when I had my 04, I went to the 06+ emblems and I have seen those modded before and they look great.

I didn't like mine either, I did mine with some black spray on bedliner. Did you mask them off on the truck still or take them off?
