OK, so my ranger spent a few months jacked up in my garage awaiting new trans cooler lines and yes I remember having to remove a few things to get to them, but nowhere do I remember loosening or removing this... (see link below). I had my father in law (smaller hands) help me with some of the lines coming off the transmission, but for the life of us we cant figure out where this goes. It just rattled/dropped off after I got 'everything' back together and was gonna take it... fishing
