Rearview mirror

How does the rearview mirror mount on the windshield. I can see what looks like a metal plug where the allen screw would go, but when i pull the mirror off it's mount there is nothing on the back side, it just looks like a one piece mirror, i am just trying to get it on it's mount completely, so when i turn my stereo up it doesn't walk it's self off like it is doing currently, i thought about just tapping it until it pops on, but them it wouldn't come off. Thanks for the help.

Yea, i'm not too far from you. Thats what i was thinking, because i tried removing that plug and it didn't come off, so i will see if i can get it on farther without braking anything.

they just slide on. I swapped my stock mirror for the new 2010 F150 style mirror with the rear view video screen inside of the mirror. Did this on my 2004 and 2003 rangers.

Ok, cool, just checking, because when i was pushing down on it it wasn't sliding down anymore so i didn't want to break it.

in order to get it to lock past the spring clip I had to take a small hammer and tap it into a small piece of wood sitting on the base of the mirrors. This was on both trucks. I would put some WD on the base of the mirror. You can break the glass if you hit it too hard.

That sounds expensive.
