Motor mount

Alright guys I have finally been able to get the 5.0 in my truck. But I'm having a problem with motor mounts. The passenger side bolts right in but the driver side doesn't work. So how do you remove the motor mounts from the Ranger/Explorer. I cant figure out a easy way to do it. Both the Ranger and Explorer are 1999.

Each isolator has 2 studs up and 1 down, so that means removing a total of 3 nuts for each side. The one on the bottom is a little harder to get to.

The bottom nut can be really tough to get to to remove the isolator from the frame. Now, are you trying to swap the explorer mounts into your ranger? Will only work right if your ranger is a torsion bar front suspension. The coil spring ranger frame is different mounting position from the explorer/ranger torsion bar.

I don't remember exactly how I did it, just that it is in an awkward location. It should be easier if the engine is out of the way.

I think I might have dropped the front diff down to gain access from below. It's pretty simple - just 3 bolts mount it to the frame.

Yes, I had to pull the front diff or drop down anyhow.

just had to to say... a 5700 vortec could solve all those problems. I know that is not what you asked. But hell all the SBC guys get stupid answers so why not you?

I'd like to keep a ford motor in a ford vehicle though. Just my way of doing things.

But anyways I got to the passenger side real easily. But the driver side the differential gets in the way of any wrench I tried. But I only had a hour or so before I headed into work today to mess around with the explorer. Should be able to figure something out tomorrow.

I assume you figured it out by now, but you do need to drop the diff down. You don't need to pull the axles, just unbolt its three frame mounts and let it drop as far as it can.
