ok i have been plotting my stereo.now to get it out the way,i like bass, sound quality is second.so here goes i am deciding either between 2 kickerl7 8's ported or 2 kicker cvr 10's sealed.i was gonna do the cvt but i know i can fit cvr's so one or the other.im not looking for different brand or worried about box and all right now.thanks.
well i have run kicker in almost everycar i have owned except i have jl in a mustang i had.im happy with kicker products.also i get better pricing on kicker stuff because i know people that can hook me up.now single cab ranger,2 ported 8's or 10 sealed 10's?
There's nothing wrong with Kicker. They're cheap and you can push the hell out of them. I would go with the two sealed 10's if it were me. I have a sealed 15" Kicker powered by a Kicker amp in my truck and I love it.
thank you ranger boy there isnt anything wrong with kicker.granted i know there are bigger and better but why am i gonna vest thousands of dollars into a cheap *** truck and yes a ranger is a cheap *** truck lol.anyhow, the 2 sealed 10's is what i was thinking originally then somebody told me that the kicker l7 8's ported would hit like 2 10's since they are square and have more cone surface area.i take it you have that 15 in an extended cab.if i had an extended cab i wouldnt have any issues.
except that kicker sound like a$$. DC subs are SQL subs and they suond AMAZING and they are LOUD. how big of a box are u going to have for 2 10s? and stay away from squares, they sound like a$$. and how much are u getting the kickers for?
I know lots of people who have run kicker before and they all sounded good. Including the two 10" sealed iused to have. I definetely agree squares sound like ****. They do not push the same amount of air at all areas of the sub. Round ones are equal and sound way better
i had 2 12" cvrs sealed and was not super impressed. my single re sx 15 on the same amp raped them. but thats because RE is way better than kicker. well older RE was, the new stuff is made in china o wait isnt kicker made their too? DC FTW
Dude calm your panties lol I'm not saying your wrong. This guy asked for opinions and that's what everyone has been doing. Stop slamming the products he wants to run and give the guy some useful advice.
and i am giving useful advice. dont get kicker subs when u can get better, i dont know how much he is looking to spend so i cant say if dc prices but i would go with them because they have 10Xs better quality and 1000X better customer service.
i specifically said in my first post as well i am not looking for different brands.i appreciate what you are doing but im not building a monster in a single cab truck.i can get kicker 8 inch l7's or cvr 10's for 90 each brand new.mainly as far as price im not that worried but i like kickers products.as i said before i ran kicker in almost all of my cars and i owned over 10 vehicles.i know someone thats owns a car audio shop so they are hooking me up and building my box.they are about 2 hours away so for me to just go and check out audio is too much time.i came on here to ask about setup because i figured all of yall knew what set up sounded pretty good in this little bitty truck.i always had cars so it wasnt a big deal.
I've got a single cab ranger with a kicker 10 shallow sub. Sounds great an hits hard its more than i expected really lol all my friends where serprised such a small speaker an box could put out like that lol. but any of your choices should sound great in ya truck it dose not take much in such a small cab.
wow someone hates kicker lol...ive had all kicker products and was a dealer....i have 1 10 L7 sealed in my truck , you can see it in my pics....youll love it, 2 will be better....and i dont understand how kicker is cheap Lmao.....they are 500 bucks for subs and amps are the same lol...stay with what you like and youll be very happy.....i promise..good luck with your build..
hey blknite23,that set up is nice!i wanted l7 10's but since i have a single cab they wont fit so im doing l7 8's.actually they should be delivered tomorrow and i have a zx750.1 amp on the way as well.im gonna have issues mounting that amp but i got a few tricks up my sleeve for that.the box is gonna be ported and a guy i know is gonna build the box for me so im hoping to be bumpin by the end of next week.yay!
sounds Great dude.....that 750.1 is rated at like 994 at 2 ohm..its a beast for the money... you'll be very pleased with it....look into mounting the amp on the back wall like i did, fits well and you can hide the wires real nice.....GL
well the problem with doing it like you did is my speaker box is gonna but taking up the whole area below that lip on the back wall.i have a single cab and you have the extended cab.i am however, comteplating mounting my amp either covering the rear speakers since the subs will cancell them out anyway,or mount it on top of the back wall over the sub box.with the amp in my hands itl be easier to figure that out, cant mount the amp under the seat the floor in a single cab isnt exactly flat and not enough room.
well seeing that your gonna run 8's the box shouldnt take up the enitre back bit just have the amp mounted the the middle of the box where your armrest sits..and a sub on each side, that how i had it in my 99 single cab with 2 10's
