How To: Disabling AdvanceTrac (2010+ models)
My roommate got a 2010 FX4 with the AdvanceTrac system (Traction control/Stability control) and the Only way to disable it is to press and hold the traction control button. If you press and let go, the TC will turn off and the icon will light up in the cluster. This does NOTHING, because stability is still on and screws everything up. So you must press and hold to make everything disable.
1) Press and hold the TC button
2) The TC icon will light up on the dash
3) Hold button until the light shuts off
4) Everything is disabled
You CAN be moving slowly to do this and it reset when you turn the truck off.
This is all in the owners manual, but I know alot of people dont look through it. So here it is
1) Press and hold the TC button
2) The TC icon will light up on the dash
3) Hold button until the light shuts off
4) Everything is disabled

You can't get a 2010 FX4. You also cannot get a 2009 FX4 I believe (not sure). But for sure you cannot get a 2010 FX4. They deleted that package this year (and maybe last). Your friend either got REALLY jipped or he has a reg 4x4 and someone is mis-identifying.
You might want to check into it.
If you don't believe me go to the Ford website and try to custom build an FX4.

I have been doing this procedure a majority of the time that I drive. However, after this procedure this morning, I had noticed that AdvanceTrac had remained active when I was stopping at a stop sign and it was very slick at -21 deg C....the brake started to depress and vibrate....weird! I had only driven about a block as I was leaving my house.
At least the above procedure works most of the time. I was hoping that it would work all the time.
Anyone else experience the same?

I had a 02 2 wheel drive and it was horrible in the snow. I have a 2010 2 wd Sport and i love the Advance Trac. Helps alot in slick conditions, and I have felt it kick in going around a corner and hitting a pothole where your truck suspension gets a little upset, it kicks in.
Maybe I'm in the minority, but I like it. It does give the ability to turn off, but whats the big deal that it defaults on when you turn your truck back on? It could save your life especially if you forgot to turn it back on when you back out on the normal roads.
