There should be a clamp with two alien or phillips head screws. look at the second pic from the top in this link....Link

Did you ever try manually jumping them yet? The reason I ask is it will rule out a bad actuator or wiring mistake up to the control module.

In affect you are running it to the lights. Your just splicing in at the headlight switch wiring harness saving you from having to run a wire back out into the engine compartment.

when connecting the connectors to the old rod...puch the old rod down as low as it goes and then the new rod the same to the accuator is down in the unlock possition... connect it tight and see if they are both just not conncect on the down possition....it may be that you don't have a good angle with the accuator. the instructions from my a1 electronics were very helpfull, but I did have somone else read them as well so two heads were better then one. good luck!!!! I had to go back a few times and change things around to make it work better.
