Need oppionions on what to spend 6500 bucks on
2005 F150 SCREW FX4
OK, so I am giving myself a $6500 limit to spend on my f150.
I am going with the off road aspect with this 6500, then in a few years ill get the Super Charger.
So, i already have on my list:
6" fabtech Performance lift(dirt logic coilovers and shocks)
35X12.5R17 BFG KM2's(5 of them)
Bushwacker pocket style flares
Exhuast (havnt decided which way to go with this yet)
Gryphon tuner
Some sort of Intake?
Rat cage spare tire carrier
What else should i get?
the small stuff i can get over the insuing months, but 6500 is my limit for this BIG buy, so the big main essentials is my priority. However i dont want to be that guy that has the lift and tires, but nothing else.. This truck IS NOT a street queen. so it needs to look/function like its tough.
heres a pic of the truck as it sits:
It already has linex in the bed, so thats good to go. I will prob. end up keeping the stock wheels to save money, unless someone can find some 17" wheels (black) that will look good and are relatively cheep.( have to be aluminum.)

Your bolt pattern is 6x135 right? Theres a million nice wheels for your truck in 17", just look on 4wheelparts
I think these would look sick
Pro Comp Xtreme Alloy Series 7033 - Flat Black
And cant you go bigger than 35s with the Fabtech? My neighbor has it on his truck and the coilovers I think he preloaded some more and did bigger blocks or something and made it into 8" lift. Hes got 36s but has plenty of room to go bigger. Don't forget gears front and back too.

You you can, or you can crank the coilovers.
Which either way is retarded in my opinion. If you want 8" of lift, there are at least two 8" lifts out there for it that will work with 37s without killing the ride.
I have ridden in F150s with cranked coilovers and it sucks, not what I would want for off-roading at all.

So I'll be looking at about $2500 with gears/lockers and install.
You can get 35x12.50R17 KM2s for $1520 for 5 of them at discount tire, plus wheels. Figure $2500 to be safe for mount/balance/shipping however you do it. Total of $5000 so far.
That leaves you with enough for a fairly basic lift that you could upgrade later. IMO tires, gearing and lockers are going to make a much bigger difference than coil-overs. I probably could have done a basic lift, with wheels and tires right now but I wanted gears and lockers, to be more functional.

I dont want anything bigger than a 35. thats plenty big enough for me. this is why i was contemplating doing the rancho kit instead but they are about the same price.

HMMM.. i dont want to go with a crappy lift that i have to replace **** on later. I guess i dont need the BEST on the market, but def want something that is going to hold up to some abuse and mileage. and i can get 5 km2's for 1300 shipped from onlinetires.com.

IIRC the Rancho kit is just a spacer. I would go ahead and do gears if your doing a full lift, it'll make it a lot nicer to drive. When its stock with 35s its not really bad but when you lift the truck up and ruin the aerodynamics even more I would just go ahead and do it. Its really your call though, you can always run with the 3.73s for a while and see how it is.

The Rancho kit comes with new, longer shocks up front. Either 5000 or 9000 series depending on how you order it. I'm not a huge fan of Rancho shocks personally.
Fabtech basic lift comes with new front shocks as well.
Superlift basic uses a spacer.
ProComp basic uses a spacer.
Rough Country uses a spacer.
None of the kits will come with new upper or lower control arms.
You can get coilovers for any of the lifts, some from the company that makes the lift but you can order King, Sway a Way, Icon, whatever.

Personally my plan, and probably the next big change to my truck will be a superlift 4.5" lift (which uses a spacer), 5 - 17x9" wheels and 5 - 35x12.50R17s. I'll use my bilsteins up front (set without the 2" lift) with the kit spacers initially. Later on I'll order coilovers and camburg upper control arms.
Unless I come up with a bunch of money at once I'll do it all.

Thanks Brian. I appreciate all the patience and help, its kind of frustrating having to relearn all this stuff. I pretty much had my Ranger down pat. the F150, well im back to square one nooobage lol
And holy hell i can get the rancho kit with the rs9000 shocks for 1500 shipped. WOW. Not sure if thats including the $500 debit card or if thats just their sale price, been on hold with them for like 10 min. (4wheelonline.com)
