Anybody ever change a windshield?

My project truck needs a windshield. I am wondering if its hard to change or do I need to bite the bullet and buy a new one. Anybody know the going price for one? Junk yards sell em 50 and up.

Up here in Canaduh, Apple Auto Glass wants $280 Installed.

I have a guy that can do it for like $175 supposedly.

My truck needs a new windshield, I have a crack right across the centre from A pillar to A pillar.

I bought one from a body shop for $140 new, + $10 for a tube of that black sealer, the shop wanted $220 to do it for me, but I did it myself. ended up with some leaks when it rained, and had to go back and add some silicon - I think its sealed now.

next time, I just let the shop do it, plus its warranteed and they'll usually fix chips for free or a reasonable price if it's their install.

but if you could get a good one at a jy for $50, it'd be worth trying yourself

just get it done by a professional. lots of places have guys you can call and they'll drive out to your house to do it.

local guy did mine for about 100 bucks right in my driveway. very nicely done - worth the extra cash.

Last time I tried to salvage a windshield from a parts truck for my grandpa's truck, I had tugged just too hard on the wire and the windshield split all the way across from pillar to pillar. Needless to say a crow bar finished the job, but the windshield wasn't all that usable.
