2.9L Engine

I'm looking to get into offroading. My truck has about 360,000KM on it (225,000 miles) and it has the stock 2.9L V6 engine. Do you guys think it would have enough power, or would be strong enough to handle that kind of stuff? I'm preparing to start buying the lift, and new wheels but I don't know if I should be doing it with this specific truck.

It will probably be okay with the right gearing. I don't know that I would put a bunch of money in a vehicle with that many miles though.

That's where I'm hesitant. Although, I figure if the engine blows it'll just give me inspiration to drop a larger engine into it from a newer model perhaps?

If you have the time, money, and ability to do that then go for it.

Skip the lift and tires and stuff. Get a newer engine. Either a 4.0 OHV, 4.0 SOHC, or a 5.0, or even a carbed 351W if you can.

In my book:
Drivetrain first (engine, tranny, t-case, axles)
Suspension second (tires, lift, brakes, wheels)
Appearance last (paint, add-ons, stick on side vents)
