2006 FX4 Do I have a Level 2?
I bought a 2006 Ranger from a local ford dealer. They said it was a Level II. Now I am not so sure. Any help would be great on verification. Truck Specs:
2006 Silver two-tone bottom dark grey
Bed Stickers say FX4 Off-road. No other badging.
Chrome cap mirrors.
Black tow hooks.
15" Alcoa's with 31x10.5x15 BFG KO
Two-tone seats Black with grey centers
Dash Grey with Black around radio/ac cluster
Two-tone door pannels grey/black
Axl: R7
SPR:11KK

Sounds like you got one of the weird FX4 1.5's lol, some of the level 2 stuff but not all of it (for example your wheels and tires are level 2 spec). The full level 2 has bilstien shocks (rancho in recent years) a front skid plate, stainless steel polished tow hooks, torsen equipped 31 spline 8.8 (you can tell by the thicker axle tubes.) all black interior and I think 06 they put a "level II" decal on the door at the body line.

I copied this from another ford website that gives the specs for the 2006 ranger.
FX4 adds: Limited-slip rear axle, black wheel-lip moldings, skid plates, premium shocks, step bars, 16-inch, five-spoke aluminum wheels, all-terrain tires, rear jump seats, tilt leather-wrapped steering wheel with speed control, power windows, mirrors and locks with remote keyless entry.
FX4 Level II adds: Torsen limited-slip rear axle, bright front tow hooks, rear tow hook, 15-inch forged Alcoa aluminum wheels with 31-inch by 10.5-inch BF Goodrich All-Terrain “KO” T/A tires, skid plates front, mid and aft, Bilstein shocks, unique two-tone bucket seats, center console, chrome shifter (manual) and AM/FM stereo with MP3/CD player and cassette.
I have all of the FX4 stuff listed plus half of the the Level II stuff listed.

every single peice of plastic should be black and in 06/07 level 2's either came with black leather or black cloth seats with a blue or red insert.
is your truck auto or manual? if it's manual then it will have a shifter that doesn't look stock. The level 2's also had silver trim around the guages.
and also check to see if your shocks are yellow and blue (bilstein)
there's plenty of other things you can check but those are the easiest to point out.

Truck is an auto. Shocks are grey....motorcraft....no silver around the gauges. It interior details you give are what I was looking for. Thanks. I wasn't putting too much into the shocks as they could have been changed out. The truck was bought used. The shocks don't look like they have 23k on them like the rest of the undercarrage.

i believe the fx4 badging changed when the front end of our trucks changed, and at the same time the standard fx4 (non custom painted or custom colour choice) and LII's got the DSG bottom, and this change was the Level II decal on the top of the grey, at the front edge of the door, both drivers and passenger side..
some have told me that the chrome shifter (manual trans) is on all fx4 (offroad and L II) but i have seen offroads with the black shifter and rubber boot... the big give away would be seats, i don't believe the offroads have the 2 tone seats like the level II's, the skid plates, there are 3, one from the rad support, to front diff, one under the t-case, and one under the gas tank, my 07 has blisten shocks, and i believe the level II's were discontinued as of 2009 model year
easiest way to figure it out, post up some pics...

If the stickers are there, what else can you look for to tell for sure ?
I know the rear axle but that isn’t always easy to get at.
Do all Lvl IIs have manual T/C ?
I am looking at one also, front right hit, only seeing pictures of the right rear; I can see the sticker but that’s it, asking for pictures of interior now.
