I've heard the flowmasters are more for sound and less for performance. It's not like your going to get much performance either way from a muffler.

More sound than performance for sure. I had two different 40 series on my truck then switched to a borla proXS, which I thought was a little quieter but more refined sounding with added top end power.

I have a 2" si/so 40 Delta Flow on my 3.0L with both cats in placed and dumped after the muffler . . . couldn't get any closer to a v8 rumble and sound if I tried. It has the nice V8 rumble at idle, 600-1500rpm range is a steady humm (only con) and then above that sounds like a quiet V8 with a little more rapid rumbling. When engine braking (downshifting) it has a nice and LOW rumble, draws looks down busy streets when I get the muffler warmed up. Overall if you're looking for a deep, V8 sounding rumble, the Flowmaster 40 Series Delta Flow is the way to go!

On the 3.0 there isn’t a exhaust system out there that will even noticeably increase your power, so basically its all for sound. The Flow40 is definitely the best sounding one IMO, i love mine.

On a side note, my Original40 has zero in cab drone unless i want it to. And at crusing speeds (40mps and 65-75mph) there is also ZERO drone.

I noticed an immediate increase from just my Borla muffler. I have 2.25 piping which helped a lot.
