I am a firm believer in buying American. If you don't buy another Ford, I wont hate you, but I sure hope you buy a GM or Chrysler product. Look at how much of our American money goes over seas now. I take pride in owning American made vehicles from a AMERICAN company. I have had a lot of vehicles in my 9 years of driving and everyone has been AMERICAN. (oh, and so you know, if you don't buy it new, you aren't supporting the company, everyone of my vehicles were bought new by me except my first car because I bought it from my parents, but it was still American). I have never had any problems and I NEVER plan to buy anything else. If you are truly American and some of you say you are, then support your country. At the rate things are going, everything will be made out of country and there will be millions upon millions of people out of a job because of your selfish ways. Take pride in your country for Christ sake....

I just think it's so funny how some of you guys get so worked up over this- like somebody said before.. yall are acting like a bunch of women on the rag who need a pad change. ^-- There's my contribution
BTW Greygoose, I have a challenge for ya... I want you to go throughout your house/apartment/dwelling and find me TEN items that you own (different items, not a craftsman tool-set), that say "MADE IN THE USA". I challenge you.

I like my Ranger. I also own a Nissan. And guess what? The company that sold me that Nissan supported this Country by providing jobs to the Americans that live here. To say that not buying American isn't supporting my country is a load of ****. Like what Tim said, we pay our taxes. We buy from local stores who provide us with various goods. That's what's great about this country. Freedom of Choice. If you put a product that's "sub par" out, then people are going to look for better alternatives.
Although something that says "Made in America" is usually better built and last longer than the ones that say "Made in China". Those are usually FTL lol!

I hear people bash my truck everyday last thing i want is bash-fest on a place where i can feel at ease. I love my truck and I try my hardest not to bash anyone because of their ride wither it be the "euro" owners or the "ricers" i just expect the same in return. I feel sorry for the people bashing Ford right now. Its like hitting a man when he's down.

I've owned many trucks, most all have been Fords.
I tried three Toyota trucks over the years, none were worth spit.
Their parts are overpriced, their trucks are under built.
I've owned several Rangers, what has always amazed me is what they are capable of. I've towed as much as 7,000 lbs with a Ranger, carried over a ton, and had no problems.
The last Toyota ate three transmissions, 4 a/c compressors, a water pump, two fuel senders, 7 idle solenoids, and four set of ball joints in 40,000 miles, at which is threw two rods while idling at a stop light. What made it worse was that it wasn't abused by any means, it was a garage kept, never off roaded truck. The 42RE motor was underpowered, towing was almost impossible, and it started to rust out in less than a year. I've owned Rangers ever since.
As far as I am concerned, you can keep any Japanese vehicle, I haven't seen one yet that I like.
My cars are a Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, my trucks are Ford Rangers.
I do own two Dodge Vans but they came as a package deal, they will be replace with Fords when the time comes.
Most problems that I've seen with Fords have been dealer related. Dealers tend to hire low paid and unskilled mechanics to do what they often feel is non technical repairs. Many have only a few experienced techs that are capable of doing the work required, and at that, they pay their techs flat rate per job, which encourages rushed and often shoddy work. I worked in Ford dealers for over 15 years, I got out when I finally got tired of watching unqualified mechanics get paid good money to do poor work, while those who took pride in their work made less and less.
Sadly it's often a case of a truck only being as good as the dealership's service department. Even a good truck can be made into a real mess by a poor mechanic or a bad service writer. What makes it even worse is that a tech gets paid less for a warranty repair than he does for that same repair not under warranty, so often simple fixes get overlooked or simply rush diagnosed to avoid losing any pay on a warranty job.
As for my Rangers, both have over 120K on them with no major repairs, my last one had 300K on it when I sold it and it's still going strong.
I just sold an '89 Crown Vic with 265K on it, and an E150 with 360K on it, both still going strong. I've also got an '80 Pinto that I've owned for years with over 600K on it, with the original motor and trans. (Also a 2.3L).
If for some reason Ford doesn't survive it's current financial situation, I think I'd be forced to start rebuilding older trucks and hoarding parts to allow me to keep driving Fords. There's no way I'd drive another foreign vehicle.
I am also not very fond of the idea that the new 2.3L is a Mazda product, I don't see that motor lasting like the 2.3L Lima motors did.
The only things I'd like to change about my current Rangers is the trans and the rear, I don't feel either are as heavy duty as they should be, but they have survived for over 120K. I would swap in a good 8.8 rear if anything ever happened. I would like to see a better automatic too. I wish they would put the 4R70W in the Ranger with the 3.0L, in my opinion that, along with an 8.8" 3.55 rear would make a good combo.

I like my 04 Ranger 4x4 Edge 4.0. It's powerful, decent on gas, and rides
really nice for a Truck. I've watched vids of Rangers do things that look
like they would tear a truck to pieces, but the Ranger's keep going.
Would a Tacoma hold up as good in these situations? I dont know if
anyone else watched this vid, but I watched were this Ranger 4x4 pulled
a full sized truck out of a ditch, a deep one at that. It took them about 10
minutes maybe but the Ranger pulled it out. They really, IMO roughed up
the Ranger in that situation, but it never complained about it either.
I was impressed, Ranger's IMO are tough trucks.

The Trucks/Cars that I drive are a big issue with me and while I may be a newbie here. I'll express my opinions if they want to be heard or not.
I just turned 25 years old and have owned four diffrent cars/trucks in my life. I started my driving career with an 87 Oldsmobile Cutlass. I then owned a 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee, A 99 Mercury Cougar, and now an 04 Ranger.
All four cars/trucks have given me problems. both the Cutlass and Jeep had dead transmissions, The Cougar... Man, where to start... The engine made a loud humming noise for most of the time I had it that Ford didn't know how to fix, the alternator died five times in two years. The rims were made of some really weak alloy that bent about once every six months. The car wore down the tires. I had to replace the tires about every six months and thanks to Mercury/Ford, they used a really weird size tire/rim set that's only used on the Cougar and Ford Focus, the only tires the car would take were high performance tires that cost me roughly $800 everytime I had them replaced. That followed with a monster water leak in the car. Everytime It rained or was foggy outside, The inside of my car was wet and that's not fun when it's 20 degrees outside and you have to scrape your windshield on the inside.
I bought my 04 Ranger brand new at the dealership. I rolled out with 13 miles on the odometer. One week later with 120 miles on the truck, The transmission died. I had to return it to Ford and it come to find out that 2nd and 3rd gears were totally gone and the tranny was replaced.
I come from a Ford family, My mother bought a 95 Mustang GT brand new and within a month, the Car was returned to Ford with several diffrent electrical issues. The power seats broke, the power windows broke, and the alternator went out. It went back to Ford several times in the first few months that she owned it and eventually it was returned to Ford under Florida's Lemon Law.
Not wanting another Mustang, She settled on a v6 Ranger XLT and again, within a week after buying.. she had to return the truck to Ford for an alignment and a tuneup.
The truck was brand new.
She now owns a 2005 F-150.
Personally, I love Ford and I love the way Ford vehicles drive. I am about as loyal to Ford as anyone can be. Obviously from my past experiances with Ford and my willingness to continue to buy from them.
I have exactly two and half years left on my loan with Ford for this Ranger I'm driving. I may pay it off or I may pay on it for about 6 more months and trade it into CarMax.
My wife bought a Toyota Corolla last year and it rides really nice and hasn't had a single problem. I've been looking at the Nissan Titan as a possible replacement in the driveway for my Ranger but I haven't decided yet if I'm going to stay loyal to Ford or continue onto something else. I hate Chevy and don't care much for GM products.
Nissan recently moved their North American Headquarters to Nashville, TN where I live and they have one of the their largest assembly plants in a town about a half hour outside of Nashville called Smyrna.
The Smyrna Plant has been in operation since June 16, 1983. Currently, five models are assembled there: Altima sedans, Maxima sedans, Pathfinder and Xterra sport utility vehicles and Frontier pickup trucks.
I'm not sure If I'll stay loyal to Ford or go onto Nissan or Toyota but I do know one thing for a fact, Rangers are too small for me so my 04 XLT will most likley be my last Ranger. If I stay with Ford, I'll probably buy an F-150.
