Eh. My service with Ford has been subpar. (I wonder with that kind of service why they are losing so much money). Every dealer I visit seems to treat me as I don't know anthing about cars/ my Ranger, and WAY overcharge me. The truck is nice, and I'm glad I have it, but unless Ford can listen to cusomers(which they don't) I will probably not be coming back to Ford.

I'm happy with my Ford but if I could have I would be driving around a Tacoma right now. Unless Ford makes some huge changes in the next Ranger my next truck will be a Taco.

I've owned both now and all I"m have to say is that I'm on my 3rd Ranger. I would never buy another Toyota since it feels like your in a tin can when closing the doors. To me the are cheaply made overpriced pieces of garbage. I would never own anything else other than a Ford.

You all are probubly going to hate me but I HATE my ford Rnager. Its an 01 4.0 manual 4x4. I bought it because it looks brand new and I needed something cheap to get me thru the ND winters. Well This thing eats alot of gas. I mean the best MPG I get is 13. I thought it was me but my wife and freind drove it with similar results. The engine is weak and makes alot of noises. Ford is telling me its the timing chain. Its a known problem but they dont want to fix it. yeehaa. The clutch is shot at 35000 miles, well not really the clutch but the slave cylinder. Why the hell did they put it in the bellhousing??? No zerk fitting whatso ever. Ford says to remove the driveshafts and grease the splines??? When I did the u-joints were frozen. Why do you use automatic fluid in a manual? I still dont know. at 40,000 miles you could barley shift it. I changed the oil with amsoil and now its way smooth. My shocks are shot @ 43000 now. There is a ton of slack in the drive train, ford says its normal. While in 4x4 the drivetrain bucks hard, I mean if you dont have you seat belt on you will move from the seat. Nothing broke yet but scarey, again ford says its normal because of the slack. Now my truck have very very little rust on it and it still looks new. I take care of it, never 4 wheel it or race it hell im a 32 year old driving like an 80year old. always been that way. Now my truck of choice is the tacoma, way more power precision ect. never a problem and unlike the 4.0 you can acually work on the engine. Thats the other complaint I have. The 4.0 has so much crap running around the engine and the fact you have to remove the passenger tire to replace the spark plug??? The 3.4 was a way better engine.
Why isnt there many lift kits, tacoma has them. And poly bushings?
Flame away If you want thats my opion. I love the Tacoma and HATE my ranger but I simply cant afford the truck of my dreams right now. For now Ill keep my ranger for winter time, anybody know what causes the front end to buck hard while in 4x4, doesnt seem right and ford says its normal? I dont know. I do like reading this board there is alot of intellegent people here and I learn alot. who know maybe ill like my ranger more when I get the problems sorted out. right now I have to fix the clutch, shocks, leaking oil from the top passenger side of motor, timingchain. man thats going to be expensive.

I am proud to drive a Ford too. I get a lot of abuse for it, but imo, they're still the best(and American owned). I will be keeping my truck till it dies and then I'll probably start rebuilding it.

once again showing people know nothing about dealer/vehicle company's....

Dealers are PRIVATE owned FORD DOES NOT own dealers.. your problem is with the Ford DEALERS in your area... try going somewhere else..

to me if you people love toyota so much then sell the ranger and move to jap land and have fun...

to me SOME of the members here are just as bad as honda owners coming on the board and bashing our trucks it just so happens you own a ranger... if you dont like it that much then sell it...

Some of you people, I dont even open your threads anymore cause its like "lets bash rangers" in the whole thread... screw it **** off and get rid of the ranger and leave then...

i am Proud to own one and always will be
