I found an interesting ebay find a 04 Ranger xl reg cab fleet truck with a 4.0 with a 5 spd auto.

I thought ford stopped making them in 01 and u could only get it in a edge not with a coil spring suspension?

i think it was still a fleet option.

 

Aside from some '01 Edge's having them, reg cab longbed XL's had the 4.0L SOHC as an option

 

but thats a 6ft bed

 

its still a fleet option.

 

there are a few xl models running around with them

 

 

also, its the manual tranny 4.0 reg cabs that arent made

 

i think they still make the 4.0 reg cab just not manual....aside from fleet im talking about because there was one (05) at my dealer that they were pushing me to get

 

Everything I have read on it says 4.0 was not available in XL until 2005. They are rare as hens teeth.
