About to buy 98 Explorer power seats. Will they fit 99 reg cab? Tried searching. . .

I have a 99' regular cab B2500, and the backrest on the seat is KILLING my back on my 2 hour commute to work. I found 98 explorer sport seats with power option, and have tried to find DEFINITIVE answers everywhere, but I get a bunch of " YES", " NO" and " Some riveting and whatever is required". Does anyone know the answer for sure? What would swapping out the tracks consist of? Thanks in advanced for any help!

Just found out the seats aren't power seats. Anyways, will they be a straight fit? They're from a 98 XLT. Please help! The dude selling them is waiting for my response today lol!

reg cabs need seat track swapping. Its drilling out 4 rivets, plus modding the seatbelt.

But, on this write up is doesn't mention any rivets!

I'm confused! Read up TONS of pages on this site but I'm still confused. . .

Can anyone guide me in the correct direction on how to make this work? Thanks again for your reply!

they are not going to just bolt in. i have been doing some research and believe you can get a set of 93-97 reg cab seat tracks to bolt to the bottom of the explorer seats. i'm 95% sure the 93-97 reg cab tracks will bolt into a 98+ reg cab. i haven't had a set in my hands to confirm it, but by measurements it should work.

I already bought the 98 seats :( I'm trying to see how I can swap tracks. Now I HAVE to find a way to make them fit! Can anyone please explain to me the whole track swapping procedure? Thanks for the replies!

Wait. . so what you mean to say is that the tracks on the original crappy reg cab seats will NOT bolt on to the 98 XLT explorer seat???

Do I definetly need to buy another years seat tracks? If so, tell me PLEASE which ones to buy, this is getting pretty frustrating. I've pretty much read so much of this forum plus 2 other forums looking for answers. . . . All I want is to know exactly how to make 98 explorer seats fit into a 99 reg cab :( PLEASE!

All right. . . up until now it seems that I need 93-97 REGULAR CAB seat tracks to bolt into my explorer seats and then attack it all to my reg cab 99 ranger. Is this %100 true? Wouldn't want to end up having to sell a set of tracks and a set of seats I can't use :( Thanks in advanced!

if you are set on using your stock seat tracks, here is a good idea of the work involved.

My how to install explorer/Mountaineer seats in a single cab ranger. - Ranger Power Sports Forum

as i said before, i believe you can get a set of 93-97 reg cab seat tracks, attach them to the explorer seats, and bolt them in your truck. i know for a fact they will bolt to the ex seats. you would lose any power function in the tracks. now i can't say 100% that the 93-97 tracks will bolt to a 98+ ranger, but i'm really confident it will. i have not physically tried this yet, but have looked at the measurements and they appear to be close enough for it to work.
