I tried it and found it to be absolutely ridiculous.

You can't drive below 2krpm.

W' a 3.0 v6 auto I end up going ~28mph up long hills (in a 50-65mph zone) and go beyond slower than normal accelrating, thus making everyone around you (and personally, myself too!) rather frusterated.

You can't. I don't know how you guys make it a full tank without going above 2k. Below 3k is reasonable, but 2k is a little absurd.

Where do you guys live? What sort of engine and tranny do you have? How far do you go, are there hills, and what sort of traffic is there?

I was about to make a post exactly like this one. Staying below 3k is all good, but below 2k?! Na bra.

It's been working okay for me, as long as it's on level ground. I've found that going uphill I usually shift around 2500 just to build more momentum.

just from putting 31 bfg's on my truck, pretty much killed my nice 17mpg down to about 13 more or less. freeway makes a big difference but im mainly in town so i am at 13. I saw this thread, too, and tried it. I go about 10-15 mph starting at a red light if i keep it below 2000 rpms. Probably would irritate a lot of people... lol. im planning on lifting in eventually but the 31s would look too small but upgrading tire size, man that would suck. any general things you guys do to get better mpg? Im sure there's a thread on that somewhere, just havent looked. either way, below 2 will get me a lot of peee o'd people in town :)

programmer... depending on what your stock tires where your most likely getting better MPG then you think cause your speedo is off you can not properly calculate it. also regearing for larger tires is a smart thing to do you have now taken your 3.0L out of its normal power band...

Wasnt sure if it's worth it to re-gear with 31s. Can I fix the speedo to match what I am really getting or am I going to have to do some math and try to figure it out myself?
