From looking at the frame and underbody and stuff like that everyone thinks it is still fixable! I hope so I want to see it in action at Spring Creek!

Glad to hear everybody is ok!

From the pics looks like only the Cab is damaged, that will be an 'easy' fix!

yeah.

leann and kyle went to drive to the public showers, down the beach...

after like 2 hours, we were like "hmmmm, wonder what they are doing? where did they go?"

and we were out boogie boarding. everyone was out about 100+ feet in the water, when a sheriff drives up to our camp.

he blasts his siren.

we thought we were in trouble for something.

then, leann got out, crying.

everyone went to her, and found out what happened.

real sad situation.

hopefully, everything will work itself out.

mammioo is picking kyle up, tomorrow, from huntsville and taking him back to college station.

kyle's best quote "at least i could roll my truck with you guys..."

we got them taken care of.

and like everyone else has said, what matters most is that they are ok. they are. we are all sorry what happened... but a ford ranger is barely a blip, in the grand scheme of things. we still have our two friends here.

p.s. - they were both wearing seatbelts.

here's a few pics i took, to document the damage.

the first one pretty much sums the whole incident up. (leann and kyle)

Thanks for the kind words everyone. It was an unfortunate way to end a really awesome weekend. The accident actually happened when my driver's side tire hit a water-filled hole while I was driving along the water's edge which caused the wheel to jerk to the side. I tried to compensate but it just didn't work for me. The back end slid out, the front wheel caught in the dirt, and the rest is history. The most important thing is that Leann and I are both safe and sound. Leann reacted very well to the whole incident, I was very impressed. If I hadn't been there with her, I wouldn't have ever suspected she'd been in an accident of that magnitude. We've each got a few bumps and bruises, but that truck held up MUCH better than I'd have thought.

Don't worry folks, she's not going anywhere! No damage will keep my truck from riding again. The frame, drivetrain, and superlift all held up REMARKABLY well. I don't think there was any damage to them at all. The engine wouldn't turn over, but it was cranking. Some stuff probably got knocked loose. Heck, even the PIAA lights on the WAAG still work! I don't think the body damage will come to the value of my truck, so if I have any say in it, she WILL ride again! I'll have more updates as I hear from the body shop and insurance company.

EXCELLENT! It will make interesting pics to see it "come back to life".

Were you aired down at all? Could it have made the tire break the bead easier? I've heard of that happening.

I'm glad you're all OK. It doesn't look like airing down was neccessary judguing from the civic on the beach behind you.

Could it have anything to do w/ running 10 inch tires on 8 inch rims? Altho from what it sounds like it was just unlucky. I'm glad you guys are ok.

Kyle, looks like maybe you could buy a new ranger body? Maybe there's some on ebay or something. Or find a ranger that got in a nasty rearend, and a ranger that got in a nasty front end, and piece em together. Sorry man, best of luck!

Actually, 10 inch tires on 8 inch rims is better for retaining the bead generally. It's when your rims are wide compared to your tire width that bead retention from side forces becomes more of a problem

I'm interested how the insurance company handles this. Anybody had a similar incident and made a claim?
