Im half kinda looking for a half decent beater four wheel drive truck just to use on my property upstate NY and maybe for running errands to the lumber yard and all.I already have my ranger i use down in the city. I was wondering has anyone here used or do they use a 4WD ranger to plow with? im just looking to do the area in front of my house and a driveway which is like 250 yards or so.. think it will work? anyone do this kind of thing?or am i better off just getting like a 150 or better?

I've been plowing on the Tug Hill for 19 years. IMHO you really need a full size truck.A plow adds a lot of weight to the front .Not to mention what happens when you hit that tree stump hidden under 2 feet of snow.I don't feel the frame / suspension could handle the abuse.
Around here we lean towards the 3/4 ton or better.

i had a topic about this, but it seems to be gone. iirc some said that you could plow with a ranger, some said that you could plow, but not alot, and others said that you would really screw up your truck if you plowed with it. i saw a ranger for sale that had a plow on it and it was at a dealership.

I was in Smas club a while back and they had a cheap plow kit they said would bolt up to a rnager and i kinda thought it was a bit small and light to plow with but I figured ive done some things that i thought were above my rangers capabilities and it did fine., so i figured id ask if it was possible with a 4WD LWB .. i am leaning towards afullsize if i find something worth it in my price range
