Frame rust..

How worried should I be about these pictures of my truck and what do you think I should do about all this rust..? I have a few small holes in the spare tire carrier and i'm worried about where else there might be some. Should I POR15 it or does this call for some serious cutting and welding?

I would wash it and try and spray it with an undercoating. The spare tire carrier isn't a big deal because you can just take it out and box the frame anyway.

I've seen worse still being driven. My '97 I had Was a bit worse than that but the biggest thing is that there are NO cracks/holes in the main framerails and crossmemebers. and yea, the tire carrier means next to nothing.

x2 that stuff is pretty thin there. As long as the main frame looks okay then just clean it up and paint!

Damn! I'd grind/ sandblast the entire frame and then undercoat it. Looks worse than my pos green truck was. Sandblasting will easily show you what parts are thin, it will either indent it or put a hole in it

Safety glasses and a respirator are a must

either sand blast and undercoat or knock off all the loose stuff and powerwash it and put POR-15 on it.

I'm with Pedro and Dave, Grind or sandblast first, then decide what to do.

Mine is worse than that but being its the spare tire Carrier It doesn't bother me to much. Like said above just get a wire wheel and grind down the whole frame and give it a good coating of rust preventer. POR15 Would be your best bet.
