Carry Weight

i got the 2.3 and want to haul a ton of rock. i figured that's not possible, so i'll only get a half ton and make a few trips. How much have you guys ever carried in your trucks?

The most I have ever carried at once was wood stacked to the roof. Here is a ppic. I had already taken some out though.

Enough cinder blocks and 4x4's to make it almost ride on the bump stop. Definitely over half a ton.

I've had my bed full of bricks, took it over the weigh scale and it was over a ton, but I wouldn't recommend it, I wouldn't do it again.

I filled my FX4 with soaking wet peatty soil one time almost level with the box. IT was squatting really hard and was exstremly tippy on corners.

I'd guess about 1000lb's

Read your manual!! it is fools on the road that over load their trucks because of some WEIRD , STRANGE false sense of security that tricks their mind into thinking their truck is invincible and indestructible and this gets people hurt or killed because of their stupidity. Besides your BREAKING THE LAW if you haul more weight then you are legally allowed to.

If some ******* was hauling more then they were suppose to and caused an accident and hurt me or my FAMILY, I would sue the **** out of them.

Why don't you post the law... that way we know what we can and can't haul.

At least if they're invisible, you won't have to worry about seeing them on the road!! (you beat me to it!)

The law doesn't specify a specific weight. It would simply say exceeding the maximum gross weight of the vehicle. The spelling errors aside, he is right. The OP needs to look in his manual to see what the weight limits are and remain inside that envelope.

I've carried 2300lbs in my 4-banger Ranger from west Dallas to Sherman OK. Not intentionally though. I was making a hot shot delivery and was told I was picking up a small die. When I got there to pick it up, it was a bit bigger than I had been led to believe. To make matters worse, it was rush hour so I sat in stop and go traffic for two hours. The truck handled the load well, but I wouldn't do it again. Made 100 bucks off that run though....

And remember, the maximum gross weight must include the empty weight of the truck, the weight of YOU, any passengers, and fuel (~6lb/gal) in addition to cargo.

(Maximum Gross Weight) - (Empty Weight) - (Fuel Weight) - (Human Weight) = How much cargo you can haul.

thanks for the quick answers, i looked on here...
site

and it says i can carry 1260 lbs payload.. so by what you guys said taking a full ton is pushing it, so I'll just take a half at a time & make trips. O'well.
