help w/ flywheel problem

help w/ flywheel problem

This is a 96 4.0 auto.. I was driving down the highway and bang! eng still running no trans?? took starter out and ck'd flywheel and I can turn it by hand ? What gives??

sounds liek u might of cracked sumthing and btw its not a flywheel on a auto its a flex plate.

Something broke in there. No way your flywheel is connected to the crank if you can rotate it by hand. Could have sheared the bolts, or broke the flexplate. I've broken flexplates around the bolts before, but I would imagine that would make some noise. Either way you'll probably have to pull the trans 2 find out.
