another tire size conversion

ive looked at alot of size conversion from search, but nothing to my understanding for an answer. ive got a 96 ranger xlt, door sticker says factory tire size of 225/70/r14. as my luck would have it, these are special size tires so naturally they cost alil more than the non special sizes. im looking at a set of wheels and tires that are 235/70/r16's. before i commit to buy i was wondering if anyone has tried this conversion already and if there were any problems ? thx guys

Thats not a conversion. Thats just putting bigger tires on which is perfectly fine. Thats a 29" tall tire replacing your 26" tall tire. Just measure to see if that will fit in the wheel well comfortably. Rule of them, take the difference between the tire sizes(3") divide by 2 and you've got the amount of space you'll lose between the top of your current tires and the fender. aka in this case 1.5"

There are numerous tire calculators online. They allow you to type in the old tire size and the new tire size and see what the differences look like in both a head on and a side profile.

Well i may be mistaken but i believe that would be a one size up change. 235/70 is one aspect ratio bigger going to a bigger rim only increases the inner diameter of the tire overall height should only be slightly higher were only talking maybe an inch or 2 tops. I went from 225 70/15 to 235/70 15 on my truck and it didn't affect anything use a calculator like discount tires website they have pretty much any configuration that will fit on a ranger its a very useful tool.
