Trans problems HELP 89 Ranger

Icon5 New to forum
Hey, I figured I would introduce myself. My name is Robert, I have a friend with Ford Ranger 89 two wheel drive that is being a pain in my $%$ right now! I don't have as much experience this yr model..

A friend of his that replaced a clutch package. six months on a 89 Ford Ranger 2 wheel drive. It ran fine till just a month ago in the past couple of weeks there was a ticking sound that would come and go it sounded as if it was coming from the clutch area.

The last two days before lost of gear engagement, he tried to engagement reverse and after a few try's then it would not go in. .About two day's ago while waiting at a light, Clutch was depressed and in gear the truck moved forward.

He shifted to neutral since then truck well not go into gear and it fills like it's hitting a wall..".well not go into gear"

So can anyone help with what to do to fix the problem Step by step to rule out the problems that are not it. Thanks short in the cash department any help well be appreciated
Thanks Robert

well though it wouldn't have anything to do witht ht clutch, there's a plastic bushing in the shifter, when mine shattered it did the same thing, though only for OD and reverse, id try bleeding the clutch out sounds kinda like theres air in the clutch line maybe.
