Actually the Explorer leafs i got had barely any lift at all. THat's because my 'old' leafs were only a few years old and still had some arch to them.

Saturday night I had to tow my buddies broken down ZR2 about 10 miles home. Then this evening I pulled out the twin stick setup to clean out a Cherry Dr. Pepper that some how fell out of my FX4 console. WTF??? Oh well its a prime opportunity to clean up what I have and put on the better parts out of my spare Level II setup.

Drove 40 miles to pick up a window a/c unit so I can have some relief, my compressor blew on the house a/c tuesday and I wanted to just stand in the freezer all day... Lucky for me, Moms house down the road was empty so I crashed there for the night, and will tonight as well... I've been wanting a unit for my workshop just hadn't thought of a way to convince the wife yet on how its a necessity and this one will do fine once the house unit is fixed
Replaced the burnt out bulb in the third brake light - thanks to a thread on here making me actually wonder "hmmm wonder if that thing works? Havn't looked in years..."
Ordered new alternator, & new belt, for the truck and noticed a water puddle under my radiator for the jeep so its got a new one on order...
And I stared at my lift kit for about 2 minutes before deciding its too damn hot to do that now... maybe next week...

today i changed my oil, went to a junk yard and got a extra set of gauges with the color needles i want (white) so now i can start getting ready to led mod my gauges in my front and i have a back up gauge just in case. while i was at the junk yard, i found a low profile tool box that had been in a rolled trunk. bought it for 20 bucks and the gauge for 40 bucks. went home and beat it out straight and it actually turned out nice and polished it as well. it was a pretty good day.

What I did to my 01 Edge today!
Today I and my Mrs did a transmission filter/gasket on the 5R55E automatic (paired with the 4.0L SOHC). It has been in the back of my mind to do since a stealership told me the transmission needed servicing around Feb this year. Since that stealership told me that, I was researching/looking up this task (time is always on my side, I never rush into anything mechanical). Well from the start, the majority of posts stipulated the tranny should be serviced/flushed every 30K miles. OK, mine now has 69.7K and the guy did say it needed servicing last Feb, so... we did it today. Got a 5R55E filter kit off freebay for $9.09 delivered on tuesday, and I picked up 6 quarts of valvoline mercon V and two cans of spray brake cleaner for the pan/screws wednesday. Well, the job went great, and I proceeded in filling up the empty pan. After 3 quarts, I finally saw the fluid on the dipstick. Half a quart later, it was within the holes on the stick. Aww wth, I added the rest of that quart and it was on almost to the top of the hash marks on the dipstick (fully seated). After cleanup, we come in to shower/cool down (97+ with three digit heat index) and while cooling down on the couch, I pull out my trusted 01 ranger service manual. Being I am just facinated with everything in the manual, I just keep reading. I get to the specifications (section/page) 307-01B-359 and at the intervals part lower part of page, I see the chart for the fluid maintenence. Right there, first item, labeled 'Normal Maintenence' it states 'Not Required. Filled for life.' Next catagory under 'Special Operating Conditions' has the intervals for the extreme service you put your ranger through, to change the fluid at 30K. I thought the fluid looked pretty good when I dropped that pan... Damn..... Oh well, I did have a lot of fun doing that job, and it killed a day with all the work/cleanup/reading of the manual. Next job just might be that damn thump when you pull away from a stop. Only problem, I do not have that boot forward of the driveshaft, to lube that gear shaft coming out of the tail of the transmission (Slip yolk?) that everyone says is the cause of that 'thump'. Anyway, just a lot of fun to do that filter/gasket/fluid... Yep, had a blast, even if it wasn't required! Thats what the Mrs and I did today for, and to, my ranger!
